Free first-person adventure game

The Gray Garden is a free adventure game developed by fotocopiadora. A game that evokes suspense and excitement, you play as an unnamed character who seeks to uncover the truth about his past and a person called Marina. The game sets you on the plot, without any backstory or proper introduction, and leaves you to find pieces to complete the puzzle of what your journey is all about.

This indie game successfully creates an eerie feel — as for most of the game, you are entirely alone. Like the Call of Cthulhu game, The Gray Garden throws references to and deals with otherworldly elements and beings greater than humans.

Unravel an ancient mystery

In The Gray Garden, you start by being thrust into an unnamed town. Once you find your way to the train station, the journey officially begins. After a brief intermission that offers a few clues about what the game is about, you then find yourself in a cave. The spacious cave keeps players on their toes since it is poorly lit and has hanging plants making ominous shapes in the distance.

One interesting thing about this game is its characters. There are a variety of human and nonhuman characters who help you in various ways. From making sacrifices to imitating speech, they add a layer of fun and depth to the experience. Other “people” are represented as hollow silhouettes — making the game even more unsettling. However, there are no enemies in this game, which could make the game feel bland or lacking for some players.

In trying to uncover the mystery, you travel back and forth between the cave and what seems like the real world, obtaining information and items that help you advance along the story. Depending on your interactions and the items you find, you can unlock one of several endings to the story. You can either return to your world or watch everything you know fall into oblivion.

A mind-bending journey

The Gray Garden is one of those games that try to take the mystery to the next level by keeping players in the dark and letting them discover the game’s features, tasks, and items. It offers good replayability since there’s always something new to find in the game. From its environment to its effort to keep players in the dark, this game is a great experience for thrill-seekers everywhere.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
